Happy 5 Years!

Its crazy to think that Michael and I have been together for   F I V E   Y E A R S   now! Time really does fly. We did not know what we were getting in to when we had the talk to become more than friends. I am glad we didn't know because we would have not soaked in every moment - the good ones and the bad ones. I am so thankful to say that I love him more today than the day we said, "I do". Happy 5 years to us "my friend Mayfield"!

We were "just friends" here but this was the beginning!

Happy New Year

5 Things I'm Loving Take 2

I did a 5 things I'm loving a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd do another...

1) - Big Brother - my sister introduced me to this several years ago and it has been my summer show. When Michael and I started dating I got him watching it too. Its a reality show - strangers put together in a house with no outside contact with the world. They do competitions and vote each other out every week - D-R-A-M-A! Love it!

2) - Periscope - I love Periscope! Basically its you watching live video from strangers around the world. I have watched Disney fireworks shows, U2 concerts, Taylor Swift concerts, NKOTB concerts, and stupid stuff too. I love it!

3) - Bean Boozled - this cracks me up. I saw Joey Hill do it at our Hydrate camp. We have a box in our office and I have taken it around to offices and told them to pick one - it scares the crap out of me which one I might get. So fun!

4) - Feedly - maybe I am late to the party on this but my co-worker, Taylor told me about this because I was trying to figure out how to keep the blogs I read organized and I LOVE IT!

5) - cucumbers - I know its so random - but this summer I have been all about cucumbers. And to top it all off - I have never had them with salt on them - I just ate them plain usually on my salad - but salt on them has changed my life. Its been my snack of the summer!

What are you loving that I need in my life?

3 Years!

Wow - how can it already be three years that we said, "I do"? A lot has happened in three years. Sold a house, bought a house, had a baby, changed a job - thats a lot crammed into that short of time. We've shared laughs, tears, and made lots of memories along the way.

I have loved watching you be the best daddy to Carsyn and the way she LOVES you! Last night at 11 PM as we were dealing with a one year old who had vomited for the first time - you were giving her a bath, I was changing sheets, you were calming her down, I was calming her down, all I could think about during that time was how thankful that we are a team - thats the way marriage is supposed to be! I pray our marriage always reflects Christ love for us and we point others to HIM!

Thank you for being...
My steady rock when I need support
My protector when I'm scared
My strength when I'm just too weak
My positive when I'm negative
My Prayer warrior
My listener
My Friend
My Love

Thank you for the way you love us! Our family is my favorite!

Happy Anniversary!

5 Things I'm Loving...

Alright y'all 5 things I'm loving right now...

Podcasts! Where have I been? I knew they were around but I've really never listened to them more than a month when we were living with my parents and my commute was OBNOXIOUS. But, I have found one that has grabbed me and I am hooked. I am loving The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey . I love it! I have followed her blog and have been friends with her on FB, IG and Twitter for years and just never listened until May and now I am happy to say I have listened to all of them. Its my ride home from work listen and my ride to work listen if Rick and Bubba are on vacation. Jamie has women who are doing so much with their lives! Women who are entrepreneurs, writers, foster parents, missionaries, pastors wives, and just every day moms. Some of her guests include Jen Hatmaker, Annie Downs, Melanie Shankle (Big Mama) and so many more! Its so fun! Go listen and see what you think.

If you have seen me this summer, you have probably seen me in this top from Target! No, I am not that girl that posed in this picture for this post, this is my new staff photo. I obviously love this shirt if I am wearing it in a staff picture that will last for a while. I have one in green too. Its so comfortable! I wish I had the other colors too.

This song by Dara Maclean - so good!

This cake recipe is so yum and its not hard to make. My next quest is to find a good buttercream icing recipe. If you have one share.

Timehop! I love this app! Its so fun to look back on your social media posts and remember where you were!

So, what are you loving right now?

I Never Thought I'd...

After I had Carsyn I started a series on my twitter called, "I never thought I'd..." and it was all about being a mommy. My timehop has been full of them lately - I guess I was in the throngs of motherhood firsts in that first six weeks of her life.

Here are a few of my, I never thought I'd...
pick boogers from her nose
not flinch when I'm vomited all over
scoop poop out of the tub like its nothing and keep going with the bath
watch the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse over and over and over and over again
buy a hair dryer sound on my iTunes account
love a little human being so much

So, what are your I never thought I'd moments as a parent?

Be Blessed!

A Beautiful Year

Well, as you can tell by the looks of my blog, life has been busy and I have not kept it up. But, I did want to document this momentous occasion in our life as something to look back on (and who knows maybe I will be inspired to blog again).

Since I last blogged this happened...

Its a girl!!

 Our family of three!

Carsyn Olivia Mayfield

June 12, 2014 changed our lives forever! This baby has brought so much joy to us and I cannot believe that a year has passed since she burst into room 308 at St. Vincent's Hospital. It has been an eventful year of Michael and I learning the parenting ropes but what a wonderful year it has been.

Carsyn has been a very easy baby. She is always happy unless she is hungry, tired or sleepy (like most people). She loves her food and she is has been a GREAT sleeper since she was 3 months old. She has her daddy wrapped around her finger and he is her favorite person. She has brought so much joy into not only our house but the homes of grandparents, aunts and uncles as well.

We do not have a good story of how we came up with her name - its the only name we agreed on - thats the story. Her middle name comes from Michael's grandmother and we are so thankful that at 90 she is still around to share in the joy of her great granddaughter. I looked up what her name means - Carsyn - wise, Intuitive, Imaginative - while we do not know if she will be any of these - we pray for her that she will grow in wisdom and spiritual understanding. Michael and I chose Colossians 1:9-11 as her verse. Olivia has fit her well in her first year - Adventurous, Adaptable, Easygoing.

I had so many tell me how fast the years will go and wow - they were not lying. It seems just like yesterday we were admitted to the hospital to have her. I keep asking myself - where has the time gone? The days were sometimes long but the year has been short. Michael and I were talking last week and he said, "we do not have a baby anymore." And he is right - she is growing into an adventurous toddler. Before we know it those babbles will turn into real words and she will be running around the house.

One whole year of getting to know her - seeing her milestones. Seeing her love for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, her cousins, birds and playing with her toys. One year of kissing those chubby cheeks, playing peekaboo and singing many songs. One year of watching her hair grow from that bald little head to almost a ponytail. What a precious joy she has been to us. We are so thankful to the Lord for entrusting His child to us. I pray we honor Him well with the way we parent her.

Happy birthday sweet one, we love you so very much!!
